Agent's Guide to Using RentHop

Standard vs. Pro Credits vs. Syndication Slots

RentHop offers three ways for agents to publish their open and exclusive listings.

The first method is through RentHop Standard, which is the default type of posting you will encounter when you create your first listing.

The next, and most popular method, is to post and promote listings via Pro Credits, which you receive when you purchase a Pro Plan (sign up here).

Separate from Pro Credits, many brokerage firms and individual agents have partnered with RentHop to set up “syndication slots.”

Below we’ll discuss the advantages of both methods, and strategies for utilizing both in conjunction.

Standard

When you first sign up for RentHop and decide to create a listing, you have the option to sign up for a Pro Plan and use Credits (see below) or list your unit for $20. For each listing you create, you pay $20 and that listing stays active on the website for 7 days. You do not have to do anything to the listing after posting it, beside respond to potential inquiries.

This method of advertising is popular amount small landlords with a low level of vacancies, those looking to sublet or rent out a room in their apartment, or agents who only work with exclusive listings and therefore do not have a high volume of inventory. You can create as many listings as you would like through this method, but if you plan to create more than five listings, we recommend signing up for a Pro Plan.

Pro Credits

Pro Credits are the most intuitive way to advertise on RentHop as agents can instantly create listings (2 Pro Credits) then promote them through reposting (2 Pro Credits) and featuring (20 Pro Credits).

We will refer to Pro Credits for the remainder of this post as simply “Credits.”

Both reposts and features increase a listing’s HopScore, which means it will appear higher in a renter’s search – the higher a listing’s HopScore, the higher it ranks in the search results. Credits give agents complete control over their listings.

Agents acquire Credits by signing up for a Pro Plan. We currently offer 3 tiers of plans at different price points which provide agents with different amounts of Credits each month. The plans are as follows:

Silver ($79 for 125 Pro Credits)

Gold ($199 for 400 Pro Credits);

Platinum ($299 for 700 Pro Credits).

Pro Plans will automatically renew on a monthly basis. Agents can manage their plan at any given time via their account. Actions include upgrading, downgrading, and cancelling.

After 6 months of consecutive enrollment on a Pro Plan, agents will also become eligible to join our Elite Program at no extra charge!

Syndication Slots

Separate from Credits, several brokerages and individual agents have partnered with RentHop to set up syndication slots on our site.

With slots, RentHop automatically pushes a set number of an agent’s listings from their brokerage’s syndication feed or website (such as RealtyMX, OLR, and Nestio) directly into that agent’s Active folder on RentHop. These listings go live and become visible to renters as soon as we sync with the agent’s feed.

Agents are also able to swap different listings in and out of these slots at no additional charge — you can think of these as monthly “parking spaces”.

An agent with slots can easily create new listings by accessing their company’s site or syndication platform (such as RealtyMX), and selecting which listings they want to syndicate to RentHop.

However, syndicated listings may take hours to appear on RentHop. And once a syndicated listing goes live, agents without Credits are unable to promote that listing using reposts and features, which are important tools to keep a listing’s HopScore competitive.

Given the advantages of Credits, we strongly recommend that agents with syndication slots also maintain a Pro Plan subscription to promote their syndicated listings.

By using Credits to repost and feature syndicated listings, agents can capture the convenience benefits of syndication slots without losing the competitive advantages of Credits.
