Agent's Guide to Using RentHop

In May of 2026, RentHop released the “Ask Me A Question” feature on the updated Agent Profile Pages.

Leveraging RentHop’s 17-year+ reputation in the industry, the new feature allows renters the ability to message you directly through the RentHop platform without needing to inquire on a listing. This feature is good for renters who may stumble across your profile page due to its ranking in Google’s search results and not be ready to reach out off the platform.

Direct Messages

Messages sent through the Ask Me A Question feature are referred to as direct messages and act similarly to normal listing leads. They will show up in your message portal and will send out a text message, an email, and an app notification depending on how your preferences are set.

You can respond to these messages just as you would any other lead (see Reply Rate information for current message response options). Once you respond to the message, the phone number will be displayed.

Responses to direct messages DO NOT impact your HopScore, and your time to respond to these is not factored into the reply rate of your Manager Reputation.

To assist with filtering these messages, you can utilize the drop-down option in the messaging portal to select messages that were originally received as direct messages, listing leads, or both.

If a thread has both a direct message and a listing lead in it, the system will automatically categorize it as a listing lead for filtering purposes.
