Thanks to Ajay Munhoo’s awesome professionalism, work ethic and service, I am happily renting an apartment I love. Moving from out of state to NYC in Winter 2015, I arrived excited but also wary of brokers & the unfamiliar NYC rental scene. After a few days of searching, I considered finding an honest, good broker (did they even exist?). Ajay fulfilled that criteria, and surpassed my expectations. He proved to be a phenomenal broker going above and beyond to make my search not only successful but memorable and fun. I am very satisfied and grateful.
He quickly stood out from other agents. Replying to my initial query in 20 minutes, he volunteered “I can show you as many apartments as you need to see to make an informed decision.” Even after I expressed skepticism of brokers, he was outstanding applying his knowledge and skills, proving that brokers with integrity do exist and can be an asset while searching.
Attentive to my desire to not rush in finding a suitable place, he proactively tried to understand my rental needs, timeline and budget. Unlike agents pushing units “that will definitely be gone tomorrow” without pictures or information, Ajay was a thorough professional. He efficiently searched and sent suitable, detailed listings, and arranged appointments with prompt follow-up. He patiently showed me at least 16 great units in different neighborhoods across my budget range to give me a sense of options (so helpful).
Not once, remarkably, did he lose his patience or seem pushy. I appreciated that he let me quietly take in the unit before asking what I liked, didn’t like, sharing objective feedback, and respecting my decisions on how to proceed. At most, he once gently encouraged me to move forward quickly on a beautiful unit and “not get mad” at him if it rented soon. I unfortunately delayed, and he was right. He has a good pulse on the value of rental units. He promptly answered ALL of my questions on units, neighborhoods, applications, NYC renter rights, utilities, etc. with research and data! He helped me sort through options and prepare for potential setbacks, assuring “… we are going to find you something very suitable to your liking. We just have to search for it.”
Kudos to Ajay for his incredible patience and untiring persistence, all doled out with generous doses of positivity. I am renting an amazing unit in a terrific building and location. Though an unadvertised listing, he was supportive and instrumental in ensuring my successful application. Far from being a nightmare, his enthusiasm for NYC real estate (& BBQ/dining joints) and honest, upfront and friendly approach made my search an enjoyable adventure appreciating units and neighborhoods. Wow! Well done, Ajay. After taking care of this very critical, tough client, by his own admission, he is well-prepared to handle any client (prospective clients, you’re welcome, lol).
Seriously, I wholeheartedly recommend him without reservation. Whatever your timeline, budget and needs, I am sure he will exceed your expectations too. Ultimately, he genuinely cares, enjoys and takes pride in working hard and honestly to help you confidently find a suitable home. He is an exemplary model of what brokers should strive for to serve their clients.
Ajay Munhoo is an excellent agent. He earned my trust quickly after I had spoken to about ten brokers and become increasingly alarmed about finding someone who could and would really help me.
He listened and intuitively understood exactly what I needed and wanted. I started talking to him long distance and soon felt as though I were dealing with an honest and professional man. It quickly became clear by looking at various sites online that the properties were often misrepresented and sometimes didn't exist at all. I was in a state when I finally talked to Ajay and he took me seriously and took notes while we spoke. He started working right then.
My budget and time were limited and I have pets. Ajay did careful research and when I arrived in New York to choose an apartment he met me at the airport and by that afternoon we had found one that was not merely adequate but a space I loved. He also made the arduous acceptance process painless and easy. He is a gentleman and works hard to find a place where you would like to live.
I consider him a friend and ally and someone I can still call for advice or information about living in New York, even after the ink is dry on the lease.
