The Apartment:

This is a brand new 1BR with open layout, high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, in-unit laundry, stainless steel appliances, and southern exposure. Tons of natural light. Unbelievable sunsets.

Literally brand new everything ā€“ the apartment has never been lived in!

The Neighborhood:

Originally the site of a farm and orchard owned by James Delancey in the mid-1700s, Orchard Street and the Lower East Side have evolved over time into one of the most unique neighborhoods in Manhattan ā€“ while still managing to maintain their historic charm and character. The street's past as the heart of the immigrant experience is captured at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum right down the block. Every Sunday, the street is shut down to vehicular traffic to make way for a pedestrian mall with various vendors and events ā€“ a tradition dating back hundreds of years. Meanwhile, less than a block away, the newly developed Essex Crossing offers some of the newest and most popular amenities in the neighborhood, including the brand new Essex Market, a 14-screen Regal Cinema, Trader Joe's and Target. Upscale boutiques, designer shops, amazing hotels and restaurants, and legendary neighborhood staples such as Katz's Delicatessen are sprinkled throughout.

Transportation:

The F, M, J and Z trains are steps away at Delancey and Essex Streets. Delancey Street offers quick and easy access to both the Williamsburg Bridge and FDR drive. Several parking garages are located within a two block radius.

Fun Facts and History of Lower East Side

Occupied by the Lenape people before Dutch colonization, the Lower East Side was perfect for farming and agriculture due to its proximity to the river. Over time, however, the area was made into a residential neighborhood to support the growing population of the city and for the strategic location of Corlears Hook, a notable site that sailors used for navigation.

Starting after the American Revolution, the area became very popular with immigrants of German descent. The new micro-neighborhood of "Little Germany" was established but, as things tend to happen in NYC, they were soon sharing the area with large Italian Jewish populations.
