Agent Profile
Michael Derard benefits clients with his well-rounded background in all facets of real estate, mainly specializing in the commercial sales arena. He is a seasoned professional who began his venture in real estate in 2003 as a part-time mortgage broker and an investor. After acquiring several multifamily properties, Michael seized an opportunity in commercial real estate finance, moved to New York City, and started a consulting business for commercial real estate in Manhattan running a small team.

He subsequently joined DSA Realty and held management roles at EXR Group such as Director of New Development and Director of Resource Development. Michael provided leadership, recruited, hired and trained over 75 agents and oversaw 300+ transactions, including more than 12 new development projects. In July 2017, he joined Compass with his team, Realo, a group of talented entrepreneurs with the drive to navigate and match their clients to their perfect properties.

While his full-service team handles the gamut of residential and commercial real estate throughout New York City, Michael focuses his own business on commercial sales, where his passion and expertise lies. Leveraging various proven strategies to provide the best services for his clients, he's known for capitalizing on exclusive off-market opportunities to connect buyers and sellers. With proficient underwriting skills, Michael can skillfully identify the right investments for his purchasers, while also taking full advantage of Compass' robust marketing platform to get the best return for sellers.

A true New Yorker at heart from Long Island, Michael attended Morrisville State College School of Engineering. He has lived in New York City for over a decade, and represents clients and commercial properties in all neighborhoods of interest.
