My name is Lia Ben-Shoshan and I have been working in the New York real estate business for over 10 years. Born in Romania, I have lived and traveled in many countries, including Israel where I studied Opera and Piano at the Jerusalem Music Academy. Once my studies were complete I was married, had three wonderful sons, and relocated to New York City, where I have been living for the last 26 years.
About fifteen  years ago I bought my first apartment in New York, which began my affair of intrigue with the New York real estate market - a beast unique and unlike that of any other city or country in the world. This intrigue grew into passion and in time it became clear to me that I must learn more about this trade. While music was my first love, anyone who has tried to work as an artist with three kids knows the challenges involved - with both parenting and going to auditions, lessons, rehearsals, etc. - and so it was that I embarked on my journey to obtain my realtor's license. I believe that my personal experience in trying to buy an apartment gave me a real appreciation for the struggles faced by a client as well as the frustrations resulting from poor guidance on the realtor's part.
Besides finding prospects and arranging viewings, I feel that a broker should be personally invested in their clientele and do everything in their power to make the home-search as pain free and enjoyable as possible, as this should be an exciting time in people's lives - not one laden with stress and disappointment. My clients move into their new homes knowing that they have purchased or rented the ideal space to accommodate  them and their lifestyles at a fair and reasonable price. I fight for my clients as though they were my family because I know and appreciate the power of customer satisfaction and word-of-mouth networking. This - along with my fluency in several languages - has been especially helpful with some of my clients moving to New York from other places in the world who came here with no one to turn to and were in desperate need of a good listener and honest advice. They have since found the home of their dreams in the City and gone on to recommend me to their friends and family.
My goal is to make people happy. Even if an apartment can't be found right away, I would rather keep looking than make someone feel like we are compromising or settling for second best. I will always
