DESCRIPTION
Red Hook: A makers enclave and one of the city's last creative hubs all in one. Move your business into this highly sought-after location. An 1800 sqft loft/office with views of the harbor and the Statue of Liberty. It is already built out with a kitchen, private bathroom, HVAC and fireplace. 24 Hour Security, passenger elevator. Tenant pays all their own utilities but taxes are included.  Sorry, no commercial food production! The waterfront creative and maker-focused Brooklyn enclave is home to much more than just Ikea and Fairway. New York City is all about what's next, from the next great club to the hottest new restaurant and, of course, whatever the current neighborhood du jour might be - which many think is Red Hook right now, especially for the creative and tech communities. Already home to innovative companies like Red Hook Labs, Pioneer Works, Hevo, Tesla and many others, Red Hook is attracting those looking to expand and, in the case of Stink Studios, get some breathing room. The global creative studio relocated from Dumbo to Red Hook, where it set up shop in a building once used to repair ships - that now also houses one of Tesla's two New York City showrooms. While it seems that Red Hook is just becoming a creative and innovative hub, the signs were always there. Get to know Red Hook and why your business should be here!    Additional Notes: (In terms of "no food" clarify that no commercial food operation is what is meant considering there is a kitchen in the unit)

The manager has listed the unit size as 1800 square feet.

Fun Facts and History of Red Hook

Named by the Dutch for the red clay that was found here when the area was colonized in 1636. The area was used for shipping and family estates until the American Revolution, when a large fort, called Fort Defiance, was built just before the Battle of Long Island.

The 1800's saw Red Hook transform into an industrial powerhouse. The ports were revitalized between the 1840's and 60's due to the deepening of the Gowanus canal and increased business from the formation of the Erie Canal. One might think this was great for the neighborhood. However, this success attracted organized crime by the 1920's.

Red Hook continued to have a poor reputation throughout the 1900's, though industry…
