The Hart-Cellar Immigration Act of 1965 paved the way for many Korean immigrants to make their home in the United States. A little over a decade later, Korean businesses were able to purchase the buildings they were using. These owners began to redevelop West 32nd street, today known as Korea Way. Since then Koreatown has been slowly expanding. Most of the main attractions and stores can be found between 31st and 33rd street.
