DESCRIPTION
**6 month minimum - Long Term Ideal **

Looking for a roommate to sublet the 2nd bedroom in my apartment in Bed Stuy Brooklyn. The building is a beautiful family owned Brownstone, with lots of character. My apartment occupies the first two floors of the building. My bedroom is on the second (Parlor) floor and shares the kitchen with the downstairs (Garden) bedroom.

I'm looking for a Peaceful, Incredibly Responsible, Employed, Clean, Honest, roommate to sublet the bedroom. Ideal candidates will be able to gently love and take care of my home like it is their own. Be respectful about noise, able to clean up after themselves, and it's a plus if you have a bit of a green thumb. There is a backyard that I am slowly transforming from jungle to peaceful picnic space.

*no pets
*no partiers * no drugs
*single/individual occupants only - no couples

The room is spacious, comfy, and partially furnished with a full bed, desk, and couch. It has its own bathroom, just off of the kitchen. It shares the downstairs entrance, kitchen, and backyard space with the bedroom upstairs (my room). Plus there is plenty of closet space.

The kitchen is spacious, clean, and has plenty of storage. It comes with the basic home appliances. Just outside of the kitchen, there is a large backyard which is great for grilling and hanging out and there is lots of space for any outdoor planting.

The Neighborhood...I love my neighborhood!
Pretty quiet and residential neighborhood.
Steps away from local Handball, Basketball courts and just a quick walk to local parks (great for picnics and outdoor workouts)
Walking distance (3 minute walk) from two laundromats.
There are a number of grocery stores and markets just minutes from the house.
There are numerous restaurants and cafes to hang out at too!

Transportation:
Trains: A (12 minute walk) & G (10 minute walk)
Buses: B52, B26, B38 (normal & limited)

About me:

I'm a 30 something African American female actor/theatre artist living in Bed Stuy Brooklyn. Before COVID I was working in regional theatre. Now, working from home, I've become a bit of a homebody, obviously. When not working I am usually figuring out some DIY project. Painting something or sawing and drilling something together in the backyard. I like to do my own thing and will sometimes study in the kitchen. I'm pretty easy going, super clean, organized, and care a lot about where I live. I am looking to sublet my space to an easy going individual. Looking for a person that is a good communicator and also self sufficient.

Surrounded by Clinton Hill, Crown Heights, Bushwick and Willaimsburg, the neighborhood has an easy commute to Manhattan and typically offers lower rent than its neighbors, making this a popular place for young professionals and students. Those looking to rent in this neighborhood can expect to find their home on beautifully tree-lined, brownstone filled streets.

Fun Facts and History of Bedford-Stuyvesant

Bedford-Stuyvesant is actually made up of several micro-neighborhoods. One of them, Stuyvesant Heights, takes its name from the last Governor of the Dutch colony of New Amsterdam, Peter Stuyvesant. The other half of the name, Bedford, comes from one of the first major colonies in New Amsterdam. While Bedford was a major settlement, Stuyvesant Heights was largely farmland, and that was the relationship between the two settlements until after the Revolutionary…
