Harlem is enormous. Stretching from the East and Harlem Rivers
all the way to the Hudson, Harlem has three micro-neighborhoods
that make up this huge area. East or Spanish Harlem is vibrant and
colorful, Central Harlem is energetic and cultural, and West Harlem
is more suburban and chill. From 110th to 155th, Harlem has
something for everyone.
Harlem is so huge that each spot has its own unique history. For
example, West and Central Harlem were burned to the ground during
the American Revolution, whereas East Harlem wasn't really
developed until the 1860's. However, one fact remains consistent
for all of Harlem: That the population of the area exploded once a
prominent Black neighborhood was destroyed to make room for Central
Park.
