RentHop - Jobs

We're Hiring!
No matter where you're moving to, finding a new home is hard. We're making it better. Join us on our quest to modernize apartment rentals.
To apply, please email your resume to [email protected]. Please include the title of the position for which you are applying in the subject of your email. All positions are for our SoHo, New York office. Playing NYC volleyball is a plus but not required. Also, if you are a current college undergraduate or a graduating high school senior entering a college undergraduate program, consider applying to the RentHop College Scholarship. Those who have an interest in marketing, business development, PR, or engineering are also welcome to accept an optional internship with RentHop.
Statistical Data Analyst
We are sitting on over seven years of rental and sales data from listing feeds, historical transaction records, our website activity logs, and our brokerage partners. We need a statistical data analyst who can lead a series of high impact projects leveraging the vast amount of information we’ve collected.

We intend to use any findings to revamp all aspects of the company, including our SEM campaigns on Google and Facebook, training sessions at client offices, intelligent search tools on our website, and sourcing content for the blog. Even our press releases and PR outreach efforts will lead off with infographics and analysis coming from the modeling team.

Immediate projects include testing the demand elasticity of our various pricing models, with a focus on promoting and optimizing subscription plans, bulk packages, and seasonal discount offerings. We will also test FX sensitivities by catering to BTC and foreign buyers, starting with Chinese translated versions of our English content. We will hire small teams of recent college graduates to research and write campus guides to target our marketing for various out of town relocation scenarios.

The scope of work also applies to internal project tracking and task prioritization, assigning engineering and operations resources to assignments based on expected impact and ROI. Experience with bug tracking and CRM software such as FogBugz is a plus.

Requirements Include:
- Bachelors Degree with knowledge of statistics, econometrics, and microeconomics
- Very familiar with local NYC college and student groups to network and hold focus groups to build tools for graduating and relocating professionals
- SEM experience: Adwords, FB Power Editor, Mailchimp, and funnel optimization
- Fluent in Mandarin, deep knowledge of Chinese / Taiwanese culture, to translate website content and provide client support for our targeted foreign real estate buyers. Chinese webapges requires native proficiency in traditional Chinese characters.
- Able to recruit and build a team of customer support, college outreach, and content creators to compile and gather data on college campuses, local neighborhoods, buildings, and property management companies.
Sales Lead
We are proud of having bootstrapped our way to profitability without a venture round (of course, we love our supportive seed investors). We have a proven product market fit and revenues that fully fund our salaries and operating expenses.

However, our income sources originate from inbound requests or self-serve web purchases. It's time we grow a dedicated sales team and we need someone to lead it! We have clients paying as low as $30/mo and some many orders of magnitude more than that.

- Experience in small business sales (5-50 person companies).
- You are resourceful and able to tackle any problem (even if you have no expertise in it). You're comfortable wearing many hats. You are not afraid to make cold calls.
- Expected to work out of NYC with trips to Boston, Chicago, and other growth targets.
- Product is already used by thousands of paying clients small and large.
- Our engineering team is at your disposal to make product improvements. A healthy sales and product feedback loop is essential!
- Fully salaried with potential for competitive bonus and commissions.
Marketing Lead
We spend far too much on Google Adwords and FB marketing with little optimization and not nearly enough intelligent targeting. We know we can do better. Join and take over the sizable marketing budget and lead our expansion efforts to Boston, Chicago, and the rest of the nation. We're open to many creative ideas! For example, you could:

- Grow and lead a team of bloggers passionate about real estate.
- Work with our designer to generate revamped offline and online creatives.
- Collaborate with our PR firm to help spread the word.
- Propose anything wild or crazy; it beats giving more money to Google and Facebook.
- Bonus points if you want product management or business development responsibilities.
Full-Stack Engineer
RentHop is trying to revolutionize the way people find, see, and rent apartments. We're looking for an engineer to help us build and improve our product.

- You're passionate about technology, development, algorithms, and data.
- You can take a product idea and run with it, making adjustments and improvements along the way.
- You know Python, PHP, JQuery, and MySQL (or comparable technologies). You're comfortable learning new technologies and applying them right away.
- You're detail-oriented, but not afraid to ship fast.
- You're comfortable working in small teams (the founders will be coding along with you).
Mobile Engineer
Let's modernize the apartment hunt and actually leverage the smartphones we all have in our pockets. This Summer alone we'll serve millions of mobile pageviews and match tens of thousands of landlords with new tenants.

With your help, the days of phone calls, email tag, and endless hassle will be over. We can roll out the first real estate on demand app that millions of people will use for finding, scheduling, and leasing apartments.

- Version 1.0 of our App is released in beta.
- RentHop Mobile will be far more than a simple form factor port of the desktop site.
- Our current mobile web traffic splits 60% iOS, 35% Android, and 5% other.
- Server components are already in place, but we'll build new APIs that make your life easier.
- Work remotely from anywhere, or stop by our NYC office anytime.
- Solve big problems - help people find a home they love.
- Flat structure
- Amazing office space and amenities in SoHo, NYC.
- Whatever equipment you need (4 monitors? Laptop? Beanbag? Tea shots?)
- Daily team lunches (but you can Seamless whenever).
- Competitive compensation and benefits.
