Finding a stellar apartment in New York City is no easy task. Ask anyone who signed a lease this year, and they’ll attest to the difficult renting process. Renting gets even more difficult in Manhattan, where the competitive market drives up rental prices. Luckily, there are some Manhattan listings under $4,500 for rent by owner this month.
Landlords may still offer concessions at pre-pandemic rates (on average, one month free), but some buildings do not offer any. As we quickly approach the summer season, the number of renters who are looking to move into the city for internships, school, work, etc, is increasing. However, a continued lack of listing inventory has led to an increase in rental prices. Today, we’ll focus on some of our favorite listings directly from landlords and current tenants looking to break their leases in Manhattan!

Methodology
Released on a monthly basis, the RentHop Best Deal series aims to provide renters with useful market insights and a chance to identify rental gems currently available on the market. These listings are hand-selected by the team at RentHop based on a few factors, including layout, apartment size, features, and more importantly, price — such listings will be on average 10% – 30% below the median asking price of other similar-sized listings in the same neighborhood.
Note that, given the fast-paced nature of the rental market in New York, certain listings may receive applications and be taken off the market within days. If you are interested in scheduling a showing or have further questions, please make sure to submit an inquiry via the inquiry submission form located on the listing page.
