I looked at over 10 apartments and until I met Michelle, I wasn’t comfortable with the rental process. She was patient, had a wonderful attitude, and was very pleasant. She has a lot of gorgeous apartments and was able to find me the perfect fit for me. She negotiated on my behalf, and got me one of the best deals I was able to find in today’s market. Most importantly she was honest, treated me as if I were family and wasn’t greedy like a lot of agents I encountered on this journey. She’s also very reasonable with her fees and knows what she’s talking about. She walked me through the entire application process and I Just want to say I am Happy I found Michelle. My sister and father are highly regarded, successful residential real estate brokers in California and Indiana, and still I would pick Michelle Mota with her experience spanning two decades for any New York real estate needs. Why? Because Michelle knows how to find a needle in a stack of needles. Before I discovered Michelle, I was roughed up for weeks in a rolling mosh pit of shifty part-time brokers while I traveled to NYC on the weekends. New York City real estate is not a side hustle for Michelle. It's all she does seven days a week. Previous brokers were like used car sales people wasting my time by meeting me at one building only to walk to a different building, or in some cases not even show up under winter storm conditions. It was so impressive how Michelle never once complained while trudging block after block amidst freezing, below zero wind conditions on Saturdays and Sundays during the first-half of January 2018. The rents listed by other brokers were never as advertised using an algorithm to peak your interest only to find out you were out of budget after you got there. Far, far worse than any street urchin Dickens could have created. Michelle always made sure that the actual monthly rent was at or below my budget. Michelle always kept the building managers and leasing agents to their word, and would not allow them to try and up-sell me on a more expensive unit while making sure there were no opaque monthly costs slipped into the total monthly rent. I came away from each apartment viewing as though Michelle was there to protect me from the sneaky tactics used by a couple leasing agents. Michelle acted as my agent and lawyer (and my big sister) all wrapped into one professional broker. Michelle was always an open book who called, texted, and emailed me with multiple units in my desired neighborhood that contained my must-haves, which resulted in the apartment I now have for $300 less than my maximum monthly budget. Michelle did all of the heavy lifting, negotiations and leg work. At my request, Michelle even went to my bank while I was back home and worked with the local branch manager to draft the cashier's check for her to secure my apartment before someone else got it. Michelle even met me at her Madison Avenue office at 9pm on a Sunday night to complete and collate the required paperwork to avoid the risk of missing out on the apartment in lieu of waiting until the following weekend to come back to NYC. I know this sounds corny, but I knew I got the apartment when the overhead office music was playing "This Must Be the Place" by the Talking Heads while she was faxing the truckload of paperwork to the property manager. All I can say is if time and transparency are important to you then place your faith in Michelle Mota.
