In addition to getting me a fair price for a 2 bedroom UWS apartment, Desmond was also able to secure concessions that made the entire process feel like a dream. I initially reached out to Desmond through Naked Apartments and heard from him almost immediately. In the course of an evening, we saw all available inventory, including the newly renovated rent stabilized apartment that I eventually rented (about 5). That night, we worked together to ensure we could file the application that night/early morning. Throughout the Landlord's decision process, Desmond had great communication and a solid relationship with the Landlord's broker. We closed within 2 days.
This very smooth process followed a challenging process with another broker that was ultimately rejected. This would not have been the result with Desmond. He works hard for his clients and is a great communicator and relationship builder.

Desmond is absolutely AMAZING. After spending way too much time perusing RentHop and other sites, then meeting with a broker who really wasn't showing me any of the right properties, I set up a meeting with Desmond expecting the same kind of experience. He exceeded all of my expectations by a mile and was able to show me a single apartment that I immediately fell in love with! He was constantly warm and helpful, and was able to manage communication between all of the moving parts (my guarantor, my roommate, etc). I highly recommend Desmond if you're looking for a really knowledgeable broker with a good sense of humor!

At each unit, Desmond asks the following three questions: (1) what do you like about the unit, (2) what do you dislike about the unit, and (3) could you see yourself living there? These questions force you to evaluate what matters the most in an apartment search. Finding an apt in NYC is incredibly stressful and most of the brokers I interacted with are scumbags. Desmond was a pleasure to work with and he made a difficult and annoying experience much more tolerable. What I found particularly useful was that Desmond and Sean only showed me units I would actually rent and focused on aspects that were important for me like renovation and location. A lot of brokers will show you unlivable spaces and waste your time but that was not the case here. I looked at at least a dozen places with numerous brokers and the place I rented through Desmond was bar far the best deal. I would recommend Desmond and Sean to anyone looking for a quality place that you won't get cheated on. No one likes to pay a fee but that is the reality of NYC so it's better to go with someone you trust.
I have nothing but kind words to say about Desmond, and his associate Sean. In one day they were able to show me 12-14 apartments back to back, with efficiency. In that search I saw 3 apartments that had strong potential. He took the time to listen to my feedback after each apartment to better understand what I liked and didn't like to better address my needs. He was honest and knowledgeable about the buildings and the city. You could tell he really wanted to help find you a home you were happy and comfortable with. I was about to give up on hiring a broker as many of the ones I meet prior were pushy, dishonest, or knew nothing about the apartments. As someone who has high expectations and is often difficult to please, Desmond did a great job in finding me the perfect apartment within my price range. Legitimately, the perfect apartment for me.
