Sunnyside Gardens is one of the first planned communities in the United States, inspired by the English Garden City movement. Built circa 1926, this historic brick home is part of a landmarked neighborhood known for its timeless architecture, tree-lined streets, and shared green spaces. The area has been featured in publications such as The New York Times for its livability and convenient access to Midtown Manhattan.
Residents enjoy access to Sunnyside Gardens Park-one of only two private parks in New York City-offering a ball field, bicycle track, tennis and basketball courts, playgrounds, and picnic areas.
Just moments away, Skillman Avenue offers an eclectic mix of restaurants, cafés, and local shops, along with a weekly greenmarket, dog run, and playgrounds. Transportation is convenient with the 7 subway line providing access to Grand Central in approximately 15 minutes, as well as the Q32 and Q60 buses, nearby LIRR service in Woodside, and LaGuardia Airport
Located right across the East River, you're traveling through
Long Island City if you want to get from Manhattan to Queens. Once
an industrial neighborhood, the last twenty years have been
transformative for this area as it quickly expands its population
and artistic culture.
Fun Facts and History of
Long Island City
The official coat of arms for LIC depicts the Native Americans,
Dutch, and English that once called the area home. LIC was its own
city from 1870 until it became part of the Greater City of New York
in 1898. Afterwards, LIC earned the distinction of being the First
Ward of the Queens Borough. LIC was a bustling commercial and
manufacturing hub as various factories opened up in the area.
In 2001, the city changed LIC's classification from commercial
to residential. Since then dozens of new luxury apartments have
been built here to support the growing population. LIC has become
known as an artist haven as many museums, galleries, restaurants,
and bars open their doors…
