Atmosphere

The atmosphere throughout Atlanta is a very professional one for the most part as it is home to a very busy and successful economy. Atlanta is the 10th largest economy in the country and many Fortune 500 companies have their global headquarters there such as Coca-Cola, Home Depot, AT&T, UPS, and many more. As a result, it is a great place to go work for some of America’s best companies.

Despite this, it is still a good place for families and children too. The school system throughout most of Atlanta is great, and there are a number of great parks spotted around Atlanta as well. It is also not all about business and work here, as there are many cultural institutions, nightclubs and restaurants in Atlanta as well. This city simply has something for everyone, and is one of the few true cosmopolitan cities in the USA.

Atlanta is a very multi-cultural place and features people of many different races in backgrounds. Atlanta has historically been seen as a center for African-American culture, power, and education. In addition to this, there are many other races and cultures that have moved here that has transformed Atlanta’s cultural fabric from a purely Southern one, to one featuring a unique blend of many cultures and backgrounds.

History

Atlanta was founded at the intersection between two railroads way back in 1837, but it was inhabited by Native Americans for many years before it was officially founded. It went through a few names and some slow growth, but eventually began to become developed. However, the Civil War destroyed much of Atlanta, which led to the city needing to be rebuilt.

Its population was decreasing rapidly for a portion, but it has experienced revitalization in the last 20 years or so and is now growing and developing both in terms of population and economic growth. This success that Atlanta is going through has also had an impact on the rent, as the average rent in the city sits just over $1550. Like any city, this will vary depending on where you live, the safety of your neighborhood, your commute times, proximity to popular bars and restaurants, architecture, and other factors.

While you now know the prices, let’s take a closer look at what Atlanta can offer you in terms of real estate. With Atlanta being a vast city with differing geographies throughout, there are lots of divergent places to live. Downtown is full of high rise and modern apartment buildings that let you live right in the middle of the action. There are older and more traditional buildings to live in the downtown area as well. All of these will be close to the many bars and restaurants that are close to downtown Atlanta.

However, if you prefer a quieter living, Atlanta and its surrounding metro area offers you plenty of options there too. There are numerous single family homes, townhouses and condos that you can choose from, many of which are close to schools and parks which are perfect for families or those who like simpler living. Basically, Atlanta is large enough and varied enough to find your perfect home, no matter what that means to you.

Getting Around

The infrastructure for transportation in Atlanta is quite complex and includes many public transit options. Included in the public transportation options in Atlanta is a heavy rail system, a light rail streetcar, buses and freight trains. However, despite all these options when it comes to public transit, driving is the most popular way of getting in and around Atlanta. Atlanta has an Interstate highway system, so it is incredibly easy to get in Atlanta. Once inside, driving around the city is easy and popular among residents. About 75% of Atlanta residents either drive or carpool to work each day.

Biking and walking are also viable options for getting around as the weather is quality in Atlanta is solid. Also, the city is planning to add more bike lanes in the future, so expect biking to become even more popular for short or quick travel throughout the city. If you need to go far, however, Atlanta is home to the busiest airport in the USA, so you will have no problem getting where you have to go.
