Park West

Nestled right in the middle of Downtown Miami sits the smallest neighborhood in the area, Park West. This neighborhood offers convenient travel to anywhere in Downtown Miami, which makes it a commuters dream, right by the water. If you are looking for a central location in Downtown Miami that is near both the entertainment district and Brickell, look into renting in Park West.

Atmosphere

Park West has something to offer everyone, no matter what your taste is. Whether you like to watch sports games or concerts at the American Airlines Arena, check out some art at the Perez Museum, or visit numerous stops on the Miami Film Festival, this neighborhood has what you’re looking for. It is a multicultural neighborhood that is accepting of all types of people from all different types of backgrounds, a trait this neighborhood shares with most of Downtown Miami.

The location of this neighborhood within Downtown Miami is unmatched. With Park West sitting smack dab in the middle of the downtown area, you have a very short and easy commute to other neighborhoods nearby. So whether you want to go party in the Media and Entertainment district, or go to work in Brickell, you can rest assured knowing you are very close to each of them.

Like most of Downtown Miami, the architecture here is made of modern high rise condo and apartment buildings and businesses. Many of these were built within the last 15/20 years, so they will likely have all the modern amenities you are looking for in a rental. However, this neighborhood also offers superb waterfront views as well as a fair amount of outdoor and green space for a neighborhood of its size.

History

Like most of Downtown Miami, this area was among one of the first places in all of Miami that was settled by pioneers. Urban development took place in the late 19th century, which led to an increase of interest in the area. This development has continued over the last few decades and the whole of Downtown Miami has been experiencing a boom in terms of population growth during the last decade or so.

Park West is also going to be going through even more development in the near future. A large portion of the western part of the neighborhood will be transformed into the Miami Worldcenter over the next few years. This will be a multi-use development area that will contain condos, hotels, retail space as some of its highlights.

Out of all the neighborhoods in and around Downtown Miami, you could argue that Park West has the best location. It is a convenient location that offers you close proximity to any downtown neighborhood as it resides right in the middle. However, this convenience and the fact that the neighborhood is very small and exclusive comes with a price. With a median one bedroom rent of $2625, Park West is the most expensive neighborhood in the downtown area by over $500. So while the convenience and location of the neighborhood is superb, it comes with a definite financial cost as you can see.

Getting Around

Due to the location of this neighborhood, getting around is extremely easy. In fact, most people here have no need for a car as public transportation is so effective and prevalent throughout the downtown area in Miami. Whether you prefer the Miami Metrorail or the free Metromover, you are never further than a few blocks from a station that can get you around quicker than a car ever could.

In addition to public transit, walking or biking is an attractive option for getting around in Park West. The weather and waterfront paths in downtown Miami make walking a treat and the city of Miami has recently put in place a number of different initiatives to make bike riding more viable including better bike lanes and more bike parking.
