Meier Real Estate
Agent Profile
New York City real estate is always in high demand, and agents need to be able to handle working with multiple clients at once. Joseph Fortino understands the delicate balance between working with more than one homebuyer, seller or renter and providing each one of them with customized service and undivided attention. It can be tough to manage, but Joe has developed excellent time management skills that stem from years of experience overseeing multiple projects while proactively solving problems.
Prior to real estate, Joe grew up in Weston, Conn. and graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University with a bachelor's degree in fine arts and a concentration in printmaking. He later earned a master's degree in communication from Fairfield University in 2018, with a focus in social media marketing. An entrepreneur at heart, he started an online art gallery that he ran for over two years, featuring 15 young and upcoming artists while displaying over 100 pieces.
Joe moved to New York City in 2016 to start a career in sports marketing at a small startup, connecting brands with pro-athletes to generate custom social media marketing campaigns - a skill he uses to this day to help build maximum exposure for his real estate clients. He later became a marketing consultant for a management firm that represented a small, diverse group of professional athletes. His experience helped him develop exceptional negotiation skills when dealing with contracts for pro-athlete clients, as well as hands-on sales experience when generating marketing opportunities via cold calls and emails.
With a deep-rooted interest in the real estate world he was never quite ready to act upon, Joe decided it was time to realize his true passion and give real estate a shot. He reached out to MEIER to take the first steps and is today one of MEIER's most active and ambitious agents. As someone who loves meeting new people and surpassing their expectations while keeping up with the hustle and bustle of city life, Joe has no problem working around the clock to get the job done for each of his clients.
In his free time, Joe enjoys coaching all levels of basketball from local youth teams to high school varsity and college teams - a hobby he's actively participated in for over eight years. He initially started coaching local youth teams in college for fun but quickly developed a deep joy for coaching when he was promoted to assistant director of a large youth basketball program. He even had the opportunity to coach at college level prior to moving to New York! But he ultimately chose to follow his professional dreams while still pursuing his favorite hobby, and became the head coach of the boy's varsity basketball team at Trevor Day School in the Upper East Side.
