Clinton (Hell's Kitchen):
Clinton is trendy among those looking for a diverse place that still captures the history of New York. Now a haven for young professionals, actors, and writers, particularly ones who work in the Theater district, and is known for an extremely high concentration of excellent ethnic restaurants, and some of the best bars and night spots in Manhattan. Clinton witnessed a construction boom over the past decade, so there are many high-end luxury buildings to choose from in addition to its renovated tenements which give the neighborhood its traditional feel. If you're looking to travel, Clinton is also a transportation hub. The Lincoln Tunnel, Port Authority Bus Terminal, and New York Passenger Ship Terminal are all located in Clinton, plus virtually every subway line in the city runs through the station at Times Square. Clinton residents are truly an eclectic mix of working-class and upper-class New Yorkers, and this rapidly changing neighborhood offers the full range of activities available anywhere in Manhattan.

However, as the city expanded north, more and more farms were purchased from their owners to make space for other things, like the construction of New York Hospital in 1911.

The population of the area exploded in the early 1900's. Even so, the city didn't pay too much attention to the area, which led to increased poverty and crime. During prohibition, Hell's Kitchen was the site of several major distilling and rumrunner…
