DESCRIPTION
Here is a rare opportunity to rent either of the top two floors of one of Noho's famed live/work loft buildings and create a truly exceptional and unique space for a company or an enterprising individual. Either the 7th or 8th floor can be rented individually as residential or office space, but a secure private staircase enjoins the two floors to create an incredibly versatile 8000-square-foot space if so desired. The 7th Floor is currently configured as an open loft work space, spanning 4,000 square feet with private elevator access, 12 foot ceilings, custom lighting, several massive rooms, and incredible natural light from windows on the East, West and South sides, very rare for a loft building. With newly refinished hardwood floors and new paint this unit is ready for immediate occupancy as residential or office space, and the landlord will make rent concessions for leasehold improvements. Lease terms can be from one to five years.  Lafayette Street was built in 1894 and is a classic cast iron loft typical of this landmarked district. Steps from the Public Theater and with great transportation access this is a location that makes a statement. SF LOFT /  12ft Ceilings / 4 Skylights / Exposed Brick/ W&D

Prime location just steps from the best shops, restaurants, bars and nightlife that the area has to offer. Close to Union Square with easy access to the 4, 5, 6, N, Q, R, W, L and PATH trains.

Fun Facts and History of SoHo

During the era of Dutch colonialism, SoHo was the site of the first free Black settlement in Manhattan. The land would remain largely rural until the draining of the Collect Pond due to pollution. Soon after, Broadway and Canal street were paved and people began to come in droves.

During the early and mid 1800's SoHo began constructing cast iron buildings in order to reduce the risk of fires, which had become common in the city. The buildings allowed for large windows and apartments. The wealthy elites of Manhattan called this place home until the invention of Modern Steel, which allowed for the development of skyscrapers.
