Part of the original city of Brooklyn, Prospect Heights was an important part of the agricultural practices and trade routes of the Dutch colonists who controlled the land in the 1600's. The original grid for Prospect Heights was drawn in 1833 and constructed in 1834, based largely on how the land had been run by the farmers who settled there.
