DESCRIPTION
This loft is the real thing, reminiscent of a classic
Soho loft, offering 1,200 sf of sun-flooded live/work space, 11
foot ceilings, hardwood floors, and private roof rights in a former
flag factory on a sunny corner in Boerum Hill. Live/work/create. A
corner unit, this loft provides south and east exposures and views
onto the magnificent rose window of a church across Pacific Street
and former NYT printing building, both featured in architectural
guides to Brooklyn. Flexible layout - the two bedrooms are
separated by a cool sliding wall - slide it open to make one
massive bedroom, or slide it shut to create separation. One flight
above is the 1200 sf of private roof area - grow your own basil, do
sun salutations, or enjoy a favorite beverage. Easy commute
anywhere thanks to proximity to the Barclays Center transportation
hub and 11 subway lines plus the LIRR, and you'll love being near
shopping (Brooklyn Fare, Target, the Atlantic Center), restaurants
and cafes of Boerum Hill and Downton Brooklyn; Brooklyn Academy of
Music; BAM Rose Cinema; Mark Morris Dance Center; and more. No
"doorman," no "elevator man," but there is a freight elevator that
comes in handy for deliveries of furniture (you could fit an entire
living room in this freight elevator!). Must see to
appreciate.

Fun Facts and History of Boerum Hill

Most of Boerum's colonial life was spent as the farmland and estate of the Boerum family. However, as Brooklyn expanded, the family soon had to sell their property to make homes for people. Row houses replaced the farmland between the 1840's and 70's.

Boerum Hill was largely a working class neighborhood, many people commuting to the industrial neighborhoods of Brooklyn as well as the Navy Yard. Even after the Navy Yard cut jobs and factories closed, the people of the neighborhood were able to stay strong and afford their homes, even through the Great Depression and the recession of the 1970's.

During the 1990's, homes that were formerly boarding houses started being purchased as private property as streets were listed as…
