You also get the apartment fully furnished for $1,200. The main furniture you get includes a TV, surround sound system, 2 kitchen carts, very, very nice bed frame (and mattress if you want), 2 dressers, coffee table, TV stand, desk, side table, nightstand, mirror, cube storage, and lights. Literally everything you see in the pictures you get. You also get all of the cooking supplies, plates, silverware, glasses, cookware, etc. Again, literally everything in the apartment is included in the $1,200. There are only a couple non-personal items that we are taking, mainly the blender and soda stream.
The location is fantastic. Close to the 6 train at 77th st and Q train at 72nd st. There are a ton of restaurants on 2nd ave and you have a Gristedes and Duane Reade all within 1-2 min walk. Wash and fold laundry is a 30 sec walk towards 3rd on our street, and an inexpensive dry cleaners across the street.
The apartment itself is fantastic too. Good sized, with a TON OF STORAGE and very high ceilings that makes the apartment seem even roomier. There are 4 total closets, and one of the closets is very deep, about 5.5 feet deep. Additionally, in the bedroom there is open storage (see pics) above the door for suitcases or whatever else you want. There is amazing water pressure in the shower and all the faucets, and the water can get really hot if you prefer. The refrigerator, stove, and kitchen faucet are all less than 2 years old as well. It's on the 2nd floor (there is an elevator as well) and it's not street facing, so there's no noise and the walls must be very thick because we never hear our neighbors. We rarely have issues with package deliveries and there's a fedex nearby. You also get the window A/Cs which keep the apartment very comfortable in the summer.
The Upper East Side has a reputation of wealth and opulence. Once home to the wealthiest New Yorkers (like the Kennedys, the Roosevelts, and the Rockefellers), the UES is filled with ornate and beautiful buildings. Today, the Upper East Side is still considered one of the more expensive neighborhoods, however, in recent years, it has begun to see younger arrivals (people in their 20s and 30s) who are finding better deals up north, away from the Lower East Side and/or hip Williamsburg.
With the completion of the 2nd Avenue train, the neighborhood is only becoming more accessible to everyone as previously the only train servicing the UEW was the 4,5,6 on Lexington Avenue. Even better, the further east you go, the cheaper the apartments get. All this is only adding on to the interest from renters who no longer have to commute for as long to get to the area.
The Upper East Side contains some smaller neighborhoods such as Yorkville, Lenox Hill, Carnegie…
