DESCRIPTION
Listing description:
Roomy first floor 3 bedroom in a well maintained building on a quiet block in Fort Greene. Recently renovated kitchen with stainless steel appliances. Dishwasher and laundry in unit. Comes with access to semi-exclusive backyard (shared with only one other unit). Less than 5 minutes from Fort Greene Park, near shops, bars, and restaurants. Rent includes gas.
My partner and I really love this apartment and have lived here for 4 years. We were hoping to stay until our lease was up in July but our roommate needed to find a place in the city to be closer to work so we agreed to let her off the lease to do what's best for her. If we could afford this apartment on our own we would probably stay forever!
We are now in this awkward situation where we are tying to find tenants to take over our entire apartment ($4,500) while at the same time looking for a potential roommate to take over one room ($1,500) by March 1. We'd prefer that the whole apartment go before March 1 so that we can find a place of our own but are willing to make it work until July if that doesn't happen!
Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or would like to schedule a time to come see the place!

FORT GREENE
Surrounded by The Brooklyn Navy Yard, Downtown Brooklyn,
Prospect Heights, and Clinton Hill, Fort Greene is a hip
neighborhood that is great for young professionals and families
alike. Rife with historic brownstones, this neighborhood feels like
home.
Fort Greene is named for Revolutionary War General Nathanael
Greene, who constructed a fort in the area in 1776. After the war,
the area was used to house workers of the new Brooklyn Navy Yard,
though several small farms were also still present from the
original colony.
Slavery was outlawed in New York in 1827, which allowed the
black population of Fort Greene to grow as many people moved to the
area seeking work in the Navy Yard. The farmers of the area sold
their land to this population and they developed the area as a
haven for the abolitionist movement, hosting speakers like Harriet
Tubman and Frederick Douglass.
During the 1900's, Fort Greene experienced a cultural boom,
opening BAM in 1908…
