Hi there!

I have loved living in this building and it's bittersweet to leave, but I am currently in the process of closing on an apartment and starting a new chapter. Currently I don't know my exact moving date--it will most likely be late April and I will find out very soon. This is not a lease takeover--you would be starting your own year-long lease. The apartment is rent stabilized, meaning that they cannot raise it more than 4% a year and often they don't raise it at all. To give an idea, I've lived in the building for 3.5 years and my rent has only gone up $70. This apartment won't be subject to the inevitable large rent hike when real estate rebounds, so that's a nice bonus. If you're interested, I'd initially like to do virtual viewing. After that, if you decide you'd like to view in person, rest assured that I'm very cautious about Covid and would like to double mask, keep windows open, and be brief---thanks for understanding!

Best, Nicky

Fun Facts and History of Downtown Brooklyn

Downtown Brooklyn was one of the first parts of the borough to be settled by the Dutch. When the British took over in 1664, the area was turned into the central business district for the City of Brooklyn.

Although the rest of the city was relatively indifferent to the Slave Trade, Downtown Brooklyn was the rare exception. Full of abolitionists, this neighborhood provided the massive support need to get slavery abolished in New York in 1827.

After Brooklyn became part of New York City in 1898, business ramped up in Downtown Brooklyn, but the number of people wanting to live there ramped up as well. Today, Downtown Brooklyn is equal parts…
