DESCRIPTION
I need to move out of my room in the East Village before the lease is up. It's a 2 bedroom/1 bathroom with roommate included. The room will be furnished as in the pictures except for the TV, my books, and a few other small things. It's on the second floor, so only 1 flight of stairs. Our neighbor is quiet and polite. The property management company is responsive when issues arise.

It's an excellent location close to 7th Street and 1st Avenue.

Very close to NYU and Cooper Union.

A few minutes walk to the F, 6, R, W, and L trains as well as the M15 Select Bus. Taxis are relatively easy to catch in the morning (and easier other times) too!

Within a block or two you'll find St. Marks Place, Proletariat, Big Gay Ice Cream, Death & Company, Caracas Arepa Bar, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, Crif Dogs/Please Don't Tell, Abraco Coffee, Trash & Vaudeville, and more.

MANY MANY other restaurants, bars, stores, and theaters within a few minutes walk - Momofuku Noodle Bar and Milk Bar, Mermaid Inn, Mighty Quinn's, etc etc etc etc.

Also 1 block to Tompkins Square Park!

My roommate is someone I've known for a long time. He's trustworthy and polite. He works a lot in the evenings and recently started school. When he's around he'll keep to himself unless you two hit it off.

Our landlord has a procedure for replacing tenants on the lease. So this is like subletting, but you will become the second person on the lease. Once all the papers are signed, I will no longer be involved. Because this is how they do things, you'll need to be approved by the landlord - in other words, you'll have to demonstrate adequate income to pay the rent, and they usually require you to have a guarantor as well.

The lease runs until August 31, 2018. I'm hoping to have someone move in as soon as possible, but the move in date can be flexible depending on the new tenant.

If you fall in love with the place, you'll have the option of renewing once the lease is up. I believe my roommate will be looking to move elsewhere at that point, though.

EAST VILLAGE

The East Village is a buzzing hub of youthful energy and activity, boasting bookstores, cafes, galleries, and hip bars. Situated between 3rd avenue and the East River, with 14th street to the north and Houston to the south, this neighborhood is both stylish and laid back. Once the most vibrant art scene in NYC, it remains a trendy neighborhood to the avant-garde while also boasting a much more polished edge, complete with luxury condos, franchised coffee shops, and plenty of lunch spots.

Fun Facts and History of East Village

Like most of New York, the East Village started out as farmland. Until the early 1960s, the East Village was just the northern tip of the Lower East Side, largely occupied by German and Ukrainian working class immigrants. However, the Beat movement made its roots in the East Village in the 1950's and paved the way for the influx of the counterculture scene of the 60s.

Since then, the art scene of the East Village exploded with series like Andy Warhol's…
