Here are some important places to add to your checklist to ensure your apartment is in the perfect neighborhood. Read below and see if you have accounted for these Neighborhood Necessities!<\/span><\/p>\n

Neighborhood Essentials<\/h2>\n

Grocery Store<\/span><\/h3>\n

With fast food being less affordable and not as fast as advertised, cooking meals at home will save you in the long run. Making sure your grocery store of choice is a manageable distance will help you avoid the traps of ordering take-out or overpaying for delivery. Many neighborhoods have food <\/span>co-ops<\/span><\/a> that help the community support one another.<\/span><\/p>\n

Laundromat<\/span><\/h3>\n

If you do not have access to that luxury, then you will need to find a convenient laundromat that you trust! Make sure you know whether they are cash\/coin-only or accept credit cards. Some financial factors to consider include investing in a reliable cart to haul your clothes securely between the laundromat and your apartment. This can also be the same cart that you use for your Grocery run!<\/span><\/p>\n

Bagel Spot<\/span><\/h3>\n

There are a million arguments online about the best bagel order. But the more important factor in the main bagel spot in your neighborhood is convenience. On those rainy or snowy days, you are not going to leave your neighborhood. You can boost your day by getting your local bagel to you faster and fresher than by traveling outside your neighborhood. So the next time you see an argument online about bagels, you can skip it and focus on your next order.<\/span><\/p>\n

Coffee Shop<\/span><\/h3>\n

We have all overslept, lost track of time, or forgotten to clean enough mugs. Having a local, reliable coffee shop nearby to be there for you in your time of need, in dire circumstances, provides you with a stress-free option. With one sip, your day is off to a great start! Or at the very least, it gets you closer to being on track. Let\u2019s also point out that it is important to set boundaries between your coffee shop and your bagel shop! Spread the love to each in your neighborhood!<\/span><\/p>\n

Neighborhood Pizza Place<\/span><\/h3>\n

Bread, cheese, and sauce have provided everyone with comfort, convenience, and, possibly most importantly, loyalty. Allegiances have been drawn globally, with each city claiming the crown of \u201cBest Pizza\u201d or, at the very least, superior to alternatives. Lucky for us, New York is definitive in our pizza supremacy. Make sure you take time to find your local spot and never worry about what to cook when you host any party!<\/span><\/p>\n

Bodega<\/span><\/a><\/h3>\n

A good bodega can make or break a living situation. Pet your local bodega cat for good luck, and in your most dire situation, reap the benefits of everything a bodega has to offer. Treat your bodega owner with respect, or you might miss out on those special deals!<\/span><\/p>\n

Bank<\/span><\/h3>\n

Even though most transactions are done online, you never know what situations may arise. In a pinch, you never know when you might need to run to your bank. At the very least make sure you are close to an ATM to get cash for the laundry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Public Transit<\/h3>\n

It cannot be overstated how important it is to have a bus or subway close to you. This is the factor that each of our listings on our site has because of how it factors into moving somewhere. Too close to a subway line, you might feel it in your apartment. Too far, you may never see anyone again! Finding the perfect apartment takes time and patience, so you want to Goldilocks the distance to public transit. Bonus points if you can have multiple options!<\/span><\/p>\n

Neighborhood Luxury<\/h2>\n

Movie Theater<\/span><\/a><\/h3>\n

Let\u2019s face it, you\u2019ve watched everything on Netflix. How many times can you really rewatch The Office? While not every neighborhood has a movie theater, it will be nice to know where your closest option is to enjoy some popcorn and a movie. Some theaters even offer dinner and a movie in one! Don\u2019t be a stranger and get off the couch and enjoy something new.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Neighborhood Library\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Kindle or iPhone all out of juice? Shame you didn\u2019t read a physical copy! Visit your local library and pick up a copy of the book you have always meant to read, but have not wanted to spend any money on. Not into books? No problem! The library has movies, classes, and online services if you refuse to let your device go. No excuse not to visit today and get your card today!<\/span><\/p>\n

Post Office<\/span><\/h3>\n

It\u2019s always nerve-racking when you know you have a package on the way, but you know you won\u2019t be home when it is supposed to arrive. Having a post office close by can give you ample time to drop off packages, place a hold on mail, and handle any other package-related emergencies you may have.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Daycare<\/span><\/h3>\n

For those with kids, having a trustworthy daycare close by can be one less stressor. Many neighborhoods have specialty day cares with a fun theme. Whether it\u2019s science or nature, check out daycares in your neighborhood!<\/span><\/p>\n

Neighborhood Parks<\/span><\/h3>\n

It\u2019s a luxury to have so many parks in the New York area. When looking at apartment listings, being close to a patch of green is a huge plus for the beautiful spring, the days of summer that are not as brutal, or those crisp fall days when the leaves start to change.
