Like other New Yorkers, you’re likely utilizing the city’s public transportation on a daily basis to get around New York City. One of these options includes the subway system, which runs through the different parts of the city, from the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, to Brooklyn. Folks who need to commute daily to work will often choose to live in a neighborhood that has an NYC subway stop that directly connects to work. During the last month, we spent time going over the various 1, 2, and 3 train stops and neighborhoods along those particular red lines. We also covered the A train route in our last article. Today, we’re moving on to the next train route in the blue A, C, E lines by discussing the local MTA C train route and the best neighborhoods to live in on this route.

There are a total of 24 stops in Manhattan and 16 stops in Brooklyn for the C train route. The C train route starts in Manhattan and then works its way southward, going through the tip of Manhattan into Brooklyn. The C train overlaps with the A train in multiple express stops such as 59 St-Columbus Circle and Jay St-MetroTech, however, the C train is local and stops at more stops in between the express stops.

In order from Manhattan to Brooklyn is a list of stops that the C train stops at. We’ve specifically pointed out stops that serve not only the C train but also other train line routes that intersect with the C train. For your convenience, we’ve also marked the stops that are ADA accessible.

You can also locate an C train stops map in PDF format directly on the MTA’s site. Alternatively, you can read through a text format of the C train stops map here.

Located in the Upper West Side, the neighborhood of Lincoln Square rests between 59th and 72nd Street, bordered by Central Park and the Hudson River to the east and west. This neighborhood is easily accessible to commuters via the 59 Street and 72 Street train stops. Lincoln Square is best known for its cultural powerhouse, the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. This center is home to the Met Opera, NY Philharmonic, and New York City Ballet. Along with the center, other notable institutions include the Juilliard School and the American Museum of Natural History. Residents of this neighborhood will enjoy walking around the tree-lined avenues of the area and easy access to some of the best restaurants and cafes in the city. Some personal favorites of the writer include Cafe Luxembourg and Ella Social.

Further down side in lower Manhattan, is the ever-trending and popular shopping district of SoHo. Short for “South of Houston Street”, this famous neighborhood appears in media around the world. Filled with bustling crowds of locals and tourists alike, there are a wide variety of stores to satisfy everyone’s shopping needs. From large branded stores like Lululemon, Anthropology, and Bloomingdale’s; to luxury boutiques like Channel, Gucci, and Celine a few streets over on Wooster Street. Residents in this busy area are going to have to shell out the big bucks to live in SoHo proper. However, there are still some great deals on apartment units in SoHo if you know where to look. Commuters can easily access SoHo through the C train stop on Spring Street or Canal Street.

C train stops NYC
