Weill Medical College of Cornell University Apartments for Rent in New York, NY

About the College

The Weill Cornell Medical College is the medical school of Cornell, a private Ivy League University. The medical school was first established in 1898 in Manhattan, New York, after Ithaca (where the main Cornell campus is located) was determined to be too small. The Weill Cornell Medical College is one of the most selective medical schools in the United States. A total of 410 students currently attend the college.

Notable alumni of the college include: Robert C. Atkins, Henry Heimlich, and Wilson Greatbatch.

Where are the academic buildings?

Most of the academic buildings associated with the Weill Cornell Medical College are located in Upper East Side from around 61st Street to 70th Street and from 1st Avenue and the East River. The college is located to the 68st Street - Hunter College 6 train. Students generally don't have to walk longer than 10-15 minutes to get to their next classes within the Manhattan campus. Most will take the subway, bike, take a bus or walk to get to class.

Where are the residence halls?

The Weill Cornell Housing Department currently offers a wide range of building types to their students, postdoctoral trainees and faculty. There are currently 6 housing options to choose from (although only two are specifically for the medical and graduate students). Most students will choose to live in single dormitory-style rooms in Olin Hall before moving into the apartments located within Lasdon House for the rest of their academic careers at Weill Cornell. Olin Hall and Lasdon House are both located conveniently around campus (one on 69th Street and the other on 70th Street.)

Due to the close proximity of the residence halls, most students will choose to walk to class. Faculty members and postdoctoral trainees who live within the housing options located in Roosevelt Island may take public transportation to reach the campus.

Where do students live other than the residence halls?

Not planning on living within the housing options provided by Weill Cornell? Not to worry, there are plenty of housing options surrounding the campus. Neighborhoods such as Lenox Hill, Sutton Place, Upper East Side and Yorkville are close by and price-efficient. Many students will also choose to live in Queens or Roosevelt Island and commute to classes.

Where do alums live if they stay in the city?

While most alums move out of the city post-graduation to pursue opportunities in other states/countries, those who do remain can usually be found living in Manhattan. Neighborhoods such as Upper West Side, Upper East Side, Chelsea, and Murray Hill have been deemed as popular neighborhoods.
