Neighborhood: Midtown East
Population: approximately 93,689 people; population density 41,565 people per square mile (city-wide 26,798 people per square mile). Looks can be deceiving, though; owing to the presence of many of New York’s biggest financial and law firms (as well as Grand Central Station), Midtown East is one of Manhattan’s most densely-populated areas during the day, but the crowds thin out at night, revealing one of Manhattan’s prettier, more upscale neighborhoods.
